The Central Coast Chapter of the Red Cross is helping to dispatch individuals who want to provide Hurricane Harvey and Irma disaster relief. Efforts will be ongoing in Texas, Louisiana and Florida at least until November 1st.
Do you want to volunteer as a Red Cross Shelter worker?
If you meet the following criteria you can be considered for a deployment:
• Must 18 or older
• Must complete the American Red Cross volunteer application, background check, and online training courses.
• Must be willing to work 12-hour day or night shifts
• Must be in good physical health- no physical limitations, able to lift 25 pounds
• Must be comfortable staying in a staff shelter (a communal living situation with cots and blankets provided); working in high-stress situations and hot/humid environmental conditions.

The process takes on average seven days to complete before deployment.
