Support the Volunteer Center on Giving Tuesday

We have a day for thanks, two for getting deals and then comes #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. Today we join non-profits, families, businesses, community centers, and students from around the world for a common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.

We know our community is made up of whole-hearted individuals who want to create more joy and lasting change. We want to help you carry that vision forward. Through our actions, we can demonstrate that the residents of Santa Cruz County are a powerful force for good.

We also know there are hundreds of well deserving options you could choose from in Santa Cruz County, including 33 fabulous nonprofits participating in Santa Cruz Gives.

But, today we want to give you the opportunity to help us transform our community by mobilizing more volunteers.

A smooth sailing ship can only keep running if the engines are fueled and well cared for. From recruitment and training to project management– The Volunteer Center is busy everyday behind the scenes bolstering the volunteer movement. For every dollar donated we generate $4 more for the community.

This #GivingTuesday we invite you to donate to help us connect more volunteers to community needs.

Behind EVERY incredible local program is a volunteer. In Santa Cruz County we have volunteers like no other, thousands of locals who set to work every day to make Santa Cruz County a better place to live. They are improving our parks, creating community art, contributing to our local government, helping in our schools, and sustaining our nonprofits.

Plain and simple– Our community thrives because volunteers are willing to share their time, talent, resource, and dedication.

Because of this dedication and the innovative efforts of local volunteers, this year we were awarded as the 2018 California Nonprofit of the Year by the Office of the Governor.  The Volunteer Center was selected among 265,678 registered nonprofits in California because each year, we are able to bring more and more energized volunteers to the community table ready to make a difference.  For over 50 years, we have partnered with our community to build new connections and take meaningful action.

Ultimately, we are lucky to live in a community where people are kind, generous, committed, and ready to volunteer. We are lucky that our donors and funding partners believe in our work and are generous with their support.

This award belongs to all of the incredible people, businesses, and groups who have devoted their time to volunteerism in Santa Cruz County. We are SO PROUD to share it with our community.

If this news makes you equally proud, then we invite you to Donate to the Volunteer Center.

Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate $5 or $500. Every little bit helps.

In the last year, the Volunteer Center connected over 12,000 volunteers, supported nonprofits in generating nearly $500,000 through our fundraising partnerships, and met the needs of over 9,000 residents through our family of 19 programs. Together, we can make phenomenal things happen for our community.
