“Our team of volunteers, staff, Board Members, Business and Community Partners are outstanding!” –I have said that exact sentence a thousand times in my career and use most of these words on a daily basis. Note to self: I need to put smashing, brilliant and ace in rotation a bit more. Note to team members teasing me about awesome: be grateful I’m not saying bang-up 50 times a day.
Yesterday, we got confirmation that I have NOT been exaggerating all these years. There are 265,678 registered nonprofits in California and our Center received the 2018 Governor’s Award for Outstanding California Nonprofit for our Service to Santa Cruz County.
How does that feel? Smashing, brilliant and LUCKY! We are lucky to have so many talented people on our team. We are lucky to live in a community where people are kind, generous and committed. We are lucky to have over 11,000 stupendous volunteers engage with us to create good. We are lucky that our donors and funding partners believe in our work and are generous with their support.
This award belongs to every magnificent person and group who is part of the big, beautiful, amazing Volunteer Center family. Together, we are exceptionally good!
We look forward to bringing our volunteers together to celebrate the power of volunteering next week as we kick off National Volunteer Week.
Are you part of our Volunteer Center family? Then we hope you will be joining us for a smashing good time at our Annual Volunteer Party on April 17th from 5:30-8:00 PM at the Community Foundation Rooftop Terrace. We will provide appetizers, wine, beer, soft drinks, good company, and music by the Beach Cowboys.
See you there!
