Superior Foods has shown what’s possible when a local business puts its people and community first. For more than 15 years, the Watsonville-based company has encouraged employees to give back — providing paid Volunteer Time Off so they can connect with local nonprofits tackling food insecurity and supporting neighbors in need.
In 2024, 27 Superior Foods employees have volunteered nearly 334 hours. Together, they’ve packed groceries for families at Second Harvest Food Bank, helped stock fresh food for the Nourish program at Watsonville Community Hospital, and delivered groceries and gifts to families at Jacob’s Heart, which supports children with cancer.
One standout is Min Ting, Superior Foods’ Inventory Replenishment Manager, who reached her full 40 hours of paid VTO this year. Outside work, she volunteers with local food pantries, community gardens, and Tzu Chi USA to get food and hygiene supplies to those who need them most. She often brings her family along — living proof that when people feel supported to give back, the impact ripples far and wide.
Superior Foods believes that employees should have the time and support to give back to causes they care about. It’s inspiring to see how their team steps up — and even brings their families along — to make a difference together.
From nourishing their neighbors to uplifting kids and families at their most vulnerable, Superior Foods reminds us that when businesses invest in people, the whole community benefits.
