SeaCliff Mobile Home Park Residents Come Together to Give Gifts to Local Children

Sue Benasso, a volunteer at the Volunteer Center and resident of Seacliff Mobile Home Park,  alerted her neighbors to the Adopt-a-Family Program. She approached the park’s management committee about adopting a family or the 2022 holiday season. Though the committee was not sure if the other residents would participate, they choose one of our local families on the adoption list and asked their community for support.

The response has been outstanding with many residents participating. The committee wrote out index cards detailing each individual’s Christmas wishes and put them in labeled containers in the clubhouse. Residents then chose a card and went shopping. Wrapped gifts are now filling the boxes for our family.  

One of the gift requests was for a bicycle for our 12-year-old boy. A neighbor approached a Management Committee member and asked if they could donate a “used bike.” Christina, the Adopt-a-Family Director, approved and the residents went to work! One person gave the bike a thorough tune-up. Another resident bought a helmet for his safety, and another resident bought a bicycle lock for his new bike. Truthfully, this used bike looks better than new! The park residents feel very excited and blessed about this donated bike; they know it was the boy’s dream. The park residents can’t wait to share a photo of him and his new bike after the holidays!

Mary Fox, Chair of the Seacliff Park Management Committee, shares, “It has been a privilege to serve and bless a family in our community, and in some ways, it has unified the park.”
