“I love interacting with people and always knew I would end up volunteering when I retired." - Jeffrey
Jeffrey realized there was a tremendous need among the seniors in our community to find rides to essential appointments and decided to become a volunteer for the Volunteer Center Transportation Program. Jeffrey now lends his muscle to help offer rides. He is among a collective of volunteer drivers who provide over 4,500 rides throughout Santa Cruz County per year. He currently gives 2 to 3 rides per week, smile included.
New to the Volunteer Center, Jeffrey is finding his service “very fulfilling.”
As a Santa Cruz native, Jeffrey has been active in our community for several decades. Over the years, he has given his time as a dedicated Little League Coach and served on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club. He recently retired after 35 years with Big Creek Lumber and shows no signs of slowing down (except when driving).
“I love interacting with people and always knew I would end up volunteering when I retired,” Jeffrey states.
Jeffrey encourages anyone who is interested in volunteering for the transportation program to jump in, bring your “flexible attitude” and get involved at the Volunteer Center!
Thank you, Jeffrey for being a champion for our seniors and helping to transform our community for good!
