Summer of Service

We all experience pivotal moments in our youth that shape who we are today. Moments where we were pushed to overcome our fears and doubts and accomplish things we never thought we could. At the Volunteer Center, we believe every young person deserves opportunities to explore their potential and discover what makes them exceptional!

This is an exciting year for our YouthSERVE Summer Institute program. Youth ages 13-18 years old are placed in volunteer internships with non-profit organizations in the Watsonville area. Students volunteer one or two days a week fro six weeks, from June 6th to July 21st. In addition, the volunteers participate meaningful workshops that will broaden their horizons and sharpen their professional skills – preparing them for future employment.

YouthSERVE Summer Institute interns enjoy the experience of working with nonprofit professionals and learning more about our diverse community. Isabella participated in the program last year at Youth N.O.W. and stated, “I volunteer because I enjoy the idea of giving back to the community. At every place I volunteered, I met new people each time, gained ways to communicate, and learned the best ways to work as a team. I plan to continue to volunteer throughout my life because I know the difference it can make for the community.” You can read more about Isabella’s experience here.

We still have a few internships available for teens that want to make a difference in their community with a meaningful, summer internship. Will will continue accepting applications util June 1st, but space is limited.
