Have you ever had to call 911, or do you know someone who has? Quite often, when emergency personnel arrive at the crisis scene, little or no medical information is immediately available concerning the patient. Proper treatment may therefore be delayed.
File of Life materials can help in this situation.
File of Life, a national program, based in West Suffield, Connecticut, provides an individual's medical information on a card inserted in a magnet which attaches to the front of the refrigerator. This information is then readily accessible to paramedics in the event they receive a crisis call from the home. There is also a wallet size component which may be carried with the individual.
Request File of Life Resources
We encourage individuals and community groups, mobile home parks, apartment complexes, and senior centers to participate in the program.
We are happy to deliver the resources you need. We can drop off a card, schedule a presentation, or partner with your group to get this resource to seniors.
Sustain Our Efforts
File of Life is endorsed by the Seniors Council, Commission of Santa Cruz County, the Fire Chiefs Association of Santa Cruz County and the American Medical Response Ambulance Company. The cost of the three major components of the File of Life Materials is one dollar. Each year we give out 1200 packets to seniors in need.
